The Invisalign Process at Our Cary Office

If you’ve ever wanted a straighter smile without obvious metal braces, Invisalign clear aligners from Foley Orthodontics could be a great fit for you. Dr. Foley uses Invisalign to provide strong and efficient treatment to create your perfect smile!

Invisalign uses a series of customized, clear aligners to gradually straighten your teeth with fewer office visits to our Cary office compared to regular metal braces. Invisalign trays are removable, near-invisible, and customized by Dr. John Foley just for your teeth and mouth.

Invisalign is much more comfortable than traditional metal bracket braces and can give you stunning results. You’ll even start to notice a change in just a few months!

At your initial consultation at Foley Orthodontics, we'll take digital scans and X-rays to create a 3D image of your mouth. Dr. John Foley makes your first set of custom-fitted aligners from these images, and then you begin the process of straightening your teeth.

You’ll probably wear Invisalign aligners for 9–15 months as recommended by Dr. Foley, and will typically use 18–30 sets during your treatment. You’ll wear several sets of trays throughout your orthodontic treatment, based on your individual needs, and your treatment plan put in place by Foley Orthodontics.

A Modern Approach to Braces

Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth. It uses a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.

Wearing the aligners will gently move your teeth into place little by little, based on the exact movements Dr. Foley plans for you.

With Invisalign treatment at Foley Orthodontics, there are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners about every two weeks, until your treatment is complete.

At Foley Orthodontics, you’ll get a great smile with a treatment that doesn’t get in the way of your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.

This nearly-invisible option to straighten your teeth is truly changing the way people around The Triangle perceive orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Foley has a lot of experience treating patients with Invisalign, and he’s excited to offer this technology to our braces patients in Cary.

Differences Between Invisalign & Braces

Unlike traditional braces, smooth plastic Invisalign aligners don't have metal components that can irritate your mouth.

Because they’re removed when you eat, you won't have to watch what you eat like you would when wearing braces – bring on the popcorn and peanuts.

In fact, the aligners must be removed for eating and for drinking anything other than water. You need to make sure you’re willing to do that before you decide on Invisalign clear braces.

To prevent staining, you’ll need to clean your teeth before putting the aligners back on after each time you eat.

Of course, brushing and flossing are much easier than with traditional braces, since you don’t have to work around any brackets and wires.

Invisalign Responsibility

When it comes to clear aligner treatment, there’s quite a bit for you to think about. Most of our Invisalign patients at Foley Orthodontics enjoy shorter check-ups, fewer appointments, better oral hygiene, and fewer emergency visits.

However, the system's biggest pro can also be a con—you have the ability to remove the aligners. Your cooperation is essential, whether you have braces or Invisalign.

Since braces are attached to your teeth, they do the heavy lifting to keep your treatment progressing. With Invisalign, you need to do a little extra work during your treatment so your trays can complete your treatment efficiently.

Like with traditional braces, you’ll generally need to wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment, as recommended by Dr. John Foley, to maintain your new alignment—and your confident new smile.
